When the weather app says there will be a “bomb cyclone” more often then not talk of post-poning the production becomes a reality. But Brooks clients are built differently, and so are the crew on projects like this! My producing partner Annie was reached out to by a production company we both love working with, Brother Films, to work on a new campaign for Brooks Running featuring the Cascadia 19 shoe. We would be filming along the coast of southern Oregon, but little did we know the adventure we were all about to have!
Productions like this are not for the faint of heart, with very early call times and hiking through the woods while carrying all of the gear in cold rainy weather. Though we had a basecamp with a heated motorhome which acted as our production office, meal area, talent holding and wardrobe station, due to the long hike in and out of the woods from set to base, it wasn’t practical to go back and forth very often.
But armed with hand warmers and multiple layers of waterproof clothing we were able to create a piece that showcased the authenticity of a trail-runner experience; rain or shine they tackle the elements while running incredible distances at a pace that would make anyone want to take a beat and catch their breath. I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish as a team and thankful for an opportunity to experience a profound moment in nature.
