GetYourGuide x Travel & Leisure — Commercial

Overview

This project was a continuation of what my producing partner Annie and I had produced for GetYourGuide in Tokyo, Japan. This time the collaboration was between GYG and Travel + Leisure Magazine, and our destination was “The Big Easy”; New Orleans!

While Annie and I were in Tokyo for part one of our adventure, our Production Manager Katie Kranz and Production Coordinator Anita Koltun Wolfram were working hard to line up the details, secure locations, and hire crew in New Orleans. Being nimble and efficient are two of the three core principles for the work we do, and hiring local crew for both legs of this project not only helped us stay within budget, but streamlined our workflow.

Katie traveled ahead of us to Nola, so that by the time Annie, our Director Jess Berry, and I arrived we were set up for success. The jetlag for the three of us who had just traveled in from Tokyo was real and I can attest that many coffees were required as fuel as we scouted the city with our local DP Alejandro Moreno. Once again, we ended our day with a solid plan which saw us filming T+L Editor Elizabeth Rhodes as she booked her GYG experiences, enjoyed various beignet shops and an evening jazz tour.

The fun addition of Super 8 footage thanks to our creative friend Max Renfro helped the edit come to life in a special way. With hearts full and stomachs satisfied by the beignets, our journey around the world was complete.
